Educate and Celebrate

At Manor Green, it is our belief that all children have the right to be themselves and to be the best that they can be. To ensure that all children are supported in this, we are proud to have achieved the Pride in Inclusion Award through Educate and Celebrate.

This award shows that our practice embeds gender, gender identity and sexual orientation into the fabric of our school life and curriculum offer as well as being inclusive of the 9 protected characteristics:

We want all children to see themselves and the diverse world we live in, throughout our curriculum and everything we do an Manor Green.

Past Events

Over the last couple of years we have celebrated key events led by our Pride Youth Network. Some of these included:

LGBT+ Art Exhibition 2022 - To celebrate the theme ‘Politics in Art’ each year group made their own artwork inspired by an artist of the LGBTQIA+ community. These were shared with the wider community as part of an art gallery held in school.

Pride Month 2022 - We discussed the news story of ‘Why is Pride Celebrated’ courtesy of Picture News. The children discussed the importance of celebrating diversity and inclusion and created work to reflect this. Below is an image of the rainbow cookies made by EYFS!

Supporting Diversity and Inclusion in Texts:

At Manor Green, one of our curriculum intents is to show diversity and culture. We want to inspire an ambition for our children and staff to deepen their curiosity about, understanding of, and respect for, the world around them. Here are a couple of links to books which celebrate differences and identity:
