Admission to the Academy
Manor Green Primary Academy has an agreed Admission Policy which complies with the law on admissions.
Manor Green Primary Academy follows the procedures established through the Tameside Local Authority (LA) admissions policy, details of which are available from the LA education website – www.tameside.gov.uk/schools/admissions.

Starting School for the First Time
Children starting school for the first time are admitted during the school year in which their fifth birthday falls. Children must have their fifth birthday between 1st September and 31st August (inclusive) of the year in which they begin school.
Parents and carers considering sending their children to Manor Green should contact the office to register their child’s details. Please note that this does not guarantee a place at our academy – the LA application procedures must still be followed. Prior to completing the LA application, parents are invited to visit the school in order to help decide on preferences as part of the application process.
Parents will receive a letter in March / April offering a school place to their child. Manor Green has space for 60 pupils. In the case of over-subscription, the admissions criteria will be applied by Tameside LA. Details of the appeals process will be sent by Tameside to any families who have been unsuccessful in securing a place at their preferred school for their child.
Tameside Local Authority also coordinates admissions for other year groups. In-year transfer forms are available to download from the LA’s website – www.tameside.gov.uk/schools/admissions – or can be obtained from the main office.
Admission to our Nursery
Please note that the local private nursery called Manor Green Day Nursery is completely independent of Manor Green Primary Academy.
We follow the Local Authority policy for admission to our nursery.
All 3 and 4 year old children are entitled to a free part-time nursery education place if their parents/carer wish to accept one. Places for 3 year olds will be from the term after the child’s 3rd birthday. Nursery education places can be accessed through lots of different providers.
If your child will be 3 or 4 years old between 1 September and 31 August and you would like to take advantage of part-time nursery education, you should contact as soon as possible, the Headteacher of the school whose nursery you would like your child to attend.
The Academy will keep a list of pupils whose parents have asked for a place. This place will normally be for 5 mornings or 5 afternoon sessions a week. It is the school who is responsible for determining which children will be offered a nursery place at their school. The Academy will inform you by letter in March if a place is available for your child. If there are more requests for places than there are places available, criteria will be used to decide admissions, in order of priority. Contact the school you have chosen for details of the criteria.
The Principal is responsible for informing parents if they have been allocated a place for their child.
Children who become 3 year old between 1 September and 31 August may be offered a place at a nursery from January after their third birthday, if places are still available. Headteachers cannot save places for ‘rising 3’ year olds.
Please note: if your child attends the nursery class attached to an Infant or Primary School, this does not guarantee admission to the reception class at the school. You should ensure that you apply for a place as per policy.
